Vintage Style

My Aunt had the patience to scan in all these images of my Grandmother & Grandfather, I cleaned them up a little in photoshop and wanted to share with you all.  Most of these are from the 40's & 50's

Seriously.. how cute are they???

This is a photo of their wedding which was in the paper.  She wore a powder blue knee length wedding dress.  How cute is that?  I'm in awe of the hat & corsage combo.

Boarding the train.  I believe this & the next two shots are from when they lived in Germany.

In San Francisco with her "Mama" as she still lovingly calls her.

Weekend Shop Update

I'm working on getting these pieces in the shop over these next couple of days...

I have this miserable head cold that just won't quit.
***
I'm starting to get the house together a little bit more.  George and I bought a *super* cute 1920's row home this past September and while we were fortunate to not have to do much work to it at all, I'm just now getting around to hanging curtains and making decisions on where to hang things.
I have such a problem with commitment when it comes to the house.  I need the painting to go in the *perfect* spot or I'm waiting to find that piece of furniture that is *just* right.  I'm not that obsessive, but I'm just so happy to have something that is finally ours, I just want to make it look the best possible.
***
So I'm going to nurse this cold and wake up early and head to the Antique Market tomorrow and fingers are crossed that I can find a dresser for the bedroom that compliments my 1920's upright one we already own.
It is a wonderful life.

Thursday's Inspiration

I'm dying over this picture of Angie Dickinson. Her complexion is perfect and I feel the urge to go out and buy some red tights.
(via pour 15 minutes d'amour)

and this guy.......
this image would just not be as cool if he wasn't immortalized in those shades mid groove.
i definitely need a girls dance party, and soon!

Resort 2010

It's really exciting watching our stock levels grow at the Under Capricorn headquarters.  I feel like I'm finally able to pull together actual collections of items to list together to make the store feel a little more cohesive.  Here is the beginning of our Cruise/Resort pieces for 2010.

Hooray for Hollywood

It's been an incredible week here in Los Angeles.  I've barely slept & have the bags to show for it (literal and hypothetical).  I found some amazing spots to visit on my next trip out here.  And my cold/flu is finally on it's way out.  My bags (multiple) are packed and I'm on my way to the Philadelphia snow and thankfully a warm house.  I long to sleep this weekend away, but I'm incredibly anxious to get all these finds shot and listed for the store (amd spend some time with my George).  Until then...

500 days of Zooey

I had the pleasure of viewing 500 Days of Summer the other night (via the tiny screen of my ipod).  It was smart, well shot, had a great indie soundtrack, and stared Zooey Deschanel.
Can I just say she is adorable??!  I love her quirky style & think her singing voice is quite endearing.
"Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin, and they end, with no lasting memories made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life. May 23rd was a Wednesday. "

Oh Domino, how I miss you so.

"I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps. "
